Clear Kayak Adventures Hawai‘i
Permit application in progress

We’re not on the water yet. Here’s why.

Clear Kayak Adventures Hawai‘i is currently in the permit application process with the State of Hawai‘i. A moratorium on new commercial ocean recreation permits means our application is waiting in line rather than being decided on its merits.

What we’re asking for

We are not asking anyone to change the rules, and we are not asking for an exception. We are asking the State to prioritize the review of our application — to look at what this operation actually is, and weigh it on that basis.

Our position is that this is a low-impact operation offering something that does not currently exist here, and that its educational purpose serves the State’s own stewardship goals. We think that case is worth hearing.

The case we’re making

Education first

Every tour is built around teaching: local marine life, reef ecology, and how the ocean here actually works. People protect what they understand.

Hawaiian culture and place

We teach the cultural and traditional context of the waters we paddle — not as decoration, but as the reason these places are treated the way they are.

A light footprint

Human-powered craft. No motors, no fuel, no wake, no anchoring on reef. Small groups moving slowly through the water.

Stewardship that carries forward

Our aim is that people leave with an understanding of this place they take home with them — the durable part of any visit.

Add your name

If you think this application deserves to be reviewed, add your name. We’ll include the list — names, home cities, and any comments you choose to leave — with our correspondence to the State.

We use your name, city, and comment for this petition, and your email only to reach you about it. We don’t sell it, share it with advertisers, or add you to a marketing list. Ask us to remove your entry any time and we will.
